GCVS Website design

UI / UX design for Glasgow’s primary voluntary sector development agency

As part of a multi-disciplinary team GCVS commissioned us to undertake a brand refresh, comprehensive information architecture review and content migration.

With an extensive network of members with a variety of needs, and many different services, it was crucial that the site was highly usable with clearly signposted content and an effective and simple flow.

Because of GCVS’s position in the sector, it was key to ensure the website and branding reflected the values of the organisation, as a leader and respected source of support and information.

I developed a refreshed and flexible identity that could be applied successfully across a wide variety of materials and potential applications. I then used the identity refresh as the core of the website visual design. We knew that with such an information rich website the key was clarity and simplicity, establishing a clean and consistent visual style, employing iconography to differentiate content types and services.

We worked with the client to ensure that the architecture made sense from a user perspective and developed a robust information and layout hierarchy, that focussed on the key information users would be accessing and made them easy to locate and navigate.

The result is a website that is information rich, while also being engaging and simple to navigate.

This is a unique website which will require a more modern browser to work!
